Meet Peter
As a Business Analyst in Dorner’s Web Applications Department, Peter Y. has no shortage of challenges. Starting at Dorner nearly 27 years ago in tech sales and proposal engineering, he built up an extensive knowledge of the many products and applications precision conveyors serve before shifting roles to help manage Dorner’s DTools configurator and pricing tools.
At Dorner, there’s always something new to learn, and even after two decades, Peter is still discovering new ways precision conveyors can be adapted to meet the needs of a wide variety of applications. “As an OEM, we’re not just manufacturing three or four parts; we’re manufacturing all these machines that go into even bigger machines that then go into so many different markets.” However, the continuous growth and product development make it exciting and enjoyable for Peter.
As an integral part of the DTools team, Peter knows firsthand how important it is to have a quality configuration tool when designing, quoting, and building these complex conveyors. One of Peter’s responsibilities is helping manage the communication between DTools and Dorner’s product database to ensure accurate information and modeling are being generated while users configure their conveyor systems.
In the past year, one of Peter’s most challenging and rewarding projects, along with the rest of the Web Applications department, has been to give DTools a much-needed facelift and add new features to make it easier than ever to use. Some of these updates have already been launched on DTools, such as the new configurator and real-time 3D preview that can be seen on the newest product configurations. “It’s been a challenge! There was a lot of head scratching, a lot of time thinking, a lot of dry runs, a lot of prototypes – that absolutely looked like garbage – but it helped us dial into the great product we have today.”
